The author of "I Believe in You", Luca Badetti, PhD, promotes human growth and transformation through inclusive community belonging. Combining his background in disability studies, clinical psychology and theology, he teaches at Loyola University Chicago John Felice Rome Center. He has been involved in L'Arche communities internationally, including L'Arche Chicago as Director of Community Life.
L'Arche communities are inclusive faith communities of shared life between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
"I Believe in You," grounded in simple and meaningful stories from a community of shared life between people with and without intellectual disabilities, brings together psychological and spiritual insights for anyone who wants to live authentically.
The first part of the book, “Who are we?”, sheds light on the preciousness of our being. It focuses on accepting and loving ourselves, reconciling with our histories, embracing our abilities and inabilities, and following our inner voice.
The second part, “Believing in the Other,” explores what it means to encounter others, particularly those at the margins, and to create community, with its values of affirmation, forgiveness and celebration.
Questions for reflection are also included for individual and group use.
Each reader is invited on a personal and inclusive journey of acceptance and transformation.
